November 24, 2008 Fellow Chefs, Although these may not necessarily be the best of times to splurge, as we are reminded at work, on the news, in the paper and in some cases by our kids, we did a pretty good job of it. The Roger Sherman Inn took great care of us as we enjoyed our “Spouses Holiday Dinner” The entire night was a buzz with many who were catching up from the busy summer season, to finally relax, take a breath, and enjoy an evening out with colleagues and friends. Owner Joseph Jaffe who just recently took over the Inn was excited having our group and took great care of us. Executive Chef Chris Cadou was responsible for our festive menu which included duck consommé with scallions, sautéed prawns and scallops with shiitake mushroom risotto, perfectly prepared filet mignon with a classic sauce of winter truffles and a nice selection of cheeses and greens with Champagne vinaigrette. To finish the evening, Pastry Chef Chelsea Spielman placed a unique twist on a fig-linzer tart with her own cardomon ice cream and hazelnut Florentine. Thank you Joseph, Chris and Chelsea and all who were responsible for a wonderful evening of food and wine, best of luck to you at the inn. A special thanks to Knipschildt Chocolatier and Kira Sushi for their generous contribution to our evening.
